86 % Merlot, 14 % Cabernet Franc, 45 hl/ha, 60 % Grand Vin. Undurchsichtiges Purpur mit schwarzer Mitte. Konzentriertes Bouquet mit Wildkirschen, Alpenheidelbeeren und Lakritze. Im zweiten Ansatz duftige Veilchen und schwarze Johannisbeerdrops. Am Gaumen mit geradliniger Struktur und seidigen Tanninen, leicht stützend, eine unglaubliche Rasse gepaart mit der betörenden Extraktsüsse verleihen dem Wein etwas Berauschendes. Im gebündelten Finale zeigt er eine grandiose Präzision und bleibt dabei schlank wie ein Pfeil, der direkt auf die Mitte der Scheibe fliegt. Fantastische Leistung!

Composed of 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Beausejour (Duffau Lagarrosse) was harvested from the 24th of September to the 7th of October. Yields were 45 hectoliters per hectare this year with about 60% of production going into the grand vin. Deep garnet-purple in color, the nose is deceptively forward to begin, giving a wonderful intensity of Morello cherries, wild blueberries and boysenberries scents, soon unfurling to reveal more and more layers: pencil lead, cast-iron pan, wilted roses, oolong tea and charcoal with a hint of garrigue. The medium to full-bodied palate is charged with energetic, crunchy black fruits, framed by firm, grainy tannins and tons of freshness, finishing very long and minerally. If this delivers on its promise, it should be very long-lived indeed! About 2,000 cases are anticipated to be made.

The 2019 Beauséjour Héritiers Duffau-Lagarrosse is shaping up to be magnificent. A wine of tremendous breadth and power, the 2019 has so much to offer. An infusion of scorched earth, gravel, spice, menthol and blackberry makes a strong first impression. Virile and potent, the 2019 offers remarkable persistence and yet retains quite a bit of finesse, especially given its size. The tannins are there, but they are matched by the intensity of the fruit. This is one of the most impressive wines of the year in the early going. Tasted two times.
