This full-bodied red builds on the palate in a fantastic way with tight, compact tannins that grow and grow on the finish. Plenty of blackcurrant and graphite character and a flavorful finish. Same level as the excellent 2016.

The 2020 Grand-Puy-Lacoste has a very refined, almost understated bouquet at first, but it opens in glorious fashion to offer precise blackberry and wild strawberry fruit, crushed stone and wild mint, gaining intensity at its own pace. The palate is beautifully balanced with fine-grained tannins, a keen thread of acidity, layers of intense black fruit and quite a spicy, vibrant and certainly persistent finish. This is a brilliant GPL from the Borie family. By Neal Martin

Delikates Bouquet, rote Kirsche, Johannisbeerdrops und Rosmarin, dahinter heller Tabak und Graphit. Am eleganten Gaumen mit seidiger Textur, herrliche Extraktfülle, balancierte Rasse und mittlerer Körper. Im gebündelten feinaromatischen Finale rote Beeren, geradlinig, so fein und feminin. Punktet mit langem Rückaroma.

Über Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste

The history of Grand-Puy-Lacoste is fascinating in many ways. It is a family saga going back to the 16th century. The name Grand-Puy, already mentioned in documents from the Middle Ages, comes from the ancient term "puy” which means "hillock, small height”. True to its name, the vineyard sits on outcrops with a terroir similar to that of the Médoc's first growths. From Since the 16th century the property remained attached to a single family from generation to generation, in a direct line through marriage until 1920, before connecting with another family in 1978 - the Borie.
