Appellation signature, smoked coffee beans, espresso, slate and liquorice, vivid cassis and bilberry fruit, ripe but staying on the right side of fleshy. Clear phenolic extraction (even though they vinified here between 23C and 26C, showing again just how small the berries were in this vintage). Picking September 8 to 21.
Decanter
Perfumed and nicely fragrant on the nose, quite floral from the Cabernet Franc with blackcurrants and black cherries. Supple and succulent, crisp with bite, this is lean and straight, not tense so much as there’s energy, but still quite direct and focussed with taut and firm tannins that give the frame. I like the cool blue fruit touches and the wet stone nuances that linger on the tongue. Feels clean and nicely balanced, more intense with less acidity at the fore, giving this some seriousness but it remains stylish and so appealing. Easy to drink and enjoy with Pauillac typicality, power and control. A clear success.

I like the chocolate, currant and crushed stone character. Medium-bodied with solid structure. Chewy and flavorful. Medium finish.

Über Chateau Haut Bages Monpelou
Haut-Bages Monpelou ist der kleine Bruder von Château Batailley und verfügt über spezielle Kellereinrichtungen in Batailley. Das Anwesen liegt im Herzen der Appellation Pauillac. Haut-Bages Monpelou war im 16. Jahrhundert Eigentum der Familie Castéja, ebenso wie das Schloss Duhart Milon. Es war ursprünglich mit dem Schloss Duhart Milon verbunden. 1950 wurde Haut-Bages Monpelou von letzterem getrennt und ist seitdem ein eigenständiges Chateau. Hinter Haut-Bages Monpelou steht das Batailley-Team mit serinem Know-how.
