This super Sauternes has fantastic sliced apricots, pear tart, creme brulee and tarte tatin. Floral. It's full-bodied yet compacted with a complex and very sweet palate. Lovely texture at the end with salted caramel. Wow. 230 grams of residual sugar. Drink or hold.

This is already so good that it is impossible to put down your glass, as you want to experience every delicious drop of this nectar. The wine is packed from start to finish with honey-drenched, ripe, very ripe, and over-ripe pineapples, mangos, candied oranges, apricots, flowers, honey, and marmalade. Perfectly perched between its decadently sweet side and its raciness on the other side, this is sublime. This has the potential to be a future legendary sweet wine. If this is your thing, grab it as only 1,200 cases were produced. The wine blends 95% Semillon with 5% Sauvignon Blanc. Drink from 2026-2055.

The 2022 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has an open, finely delineated bouquet with yellow plum, saffron and hints of caramelized pear. The palate is very well balanced with ample weight and depth. The acidity keeps everything fresh, and there is a luxuriant quality toward the almond and peach-tinged finish. A hint of crème caramel lingers on the aftertaste. This is one of the best Sauternes this vintage. Neal Martin.

Über Chateau Lafaurie Peyraguey

Die 36 ha Weinberge des Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey liegen in Bommes, in unmittelbarer Nähe zu anderen weltberühmten Weingütern der Appellation Sauternes, insbesondere zu Château d'Yquem. Die Vorzüge der edelsüssen Weissweine von Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey sind schon lange bekannt – und auch anerkannt. Bereits 1855 erhob man sie in den Rang eines Sauternes «Premier Cru Classé». Professor René Pijassou erinnert in seinem Werk «Un grand château viticole du Sauternais, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey» daran, dass bei der Klassifizierung der Bordeaux-Weine von 1855 die berühmte Liste von Bordeaux Rotweinen vier Premiers Crus beinhaltete: Château Lafite, Château Latour, Château Margaux und Château Haut-Brion. Die ebenbürtige Liste von Bordeaux Weissweinen beinhaltete neun Premiers Crus. Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey in Bommes, im damaligen Besitz von Lafaurie „dem Älteren“, rangierte auf dem zweiten Platz.
