The La Fleur de Bouard 2014 has a rich and opulent bouquet, quite lavish, but it needs more delineation to come through. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, tightly knit blackberry fruit with a hint of charcoal toward the linear finish. This is a very contained Lalande-de-Pomerol that should stretch its wings after bottling, though I always find it difficult to discern much personality in Hubert de Bouard's wine.
Ageing in barrels for 18 to 24 months, no fining, no filtering, 75% to 80% new barrels. 85% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon.
